| September-ish: |
Application to UCAS should open now. This should mean that by this month work should have begun |

on the personal statement and the collating of information for the application. |
| |
| |
| 15 October: |
Applications to Veterrinary Science, Veterinary Medicine, Medicine, Dentistry, and Oxbridge have to be submitted by this date. Take note that this date is that the application is submitted to UCAS, and the writing of the personal statement and other such information will have to be done way before this date. |

Do note that teacher recommendations are of paramount importance, UCAS does require teachers to assess students in terms of character and academic ability similar to that of the US process. They also ask for the projected grade, which all your subject teachers will give. Do remember to remind your teachers why you have potential, that will go a long way, especially during this crucial period. |

Start doing research on all the universities you plan to apply to, what appeals to you most, what courses you're interested in, and why. Start with the university webpage, and request for brochures from each school that sends information packages to international applicants, it's free and it's an excellent source of information. Try to do this as early as possible as it can take up to a month to arrive from the UK.

| Late October: |
Interviews for Oxbridge start around this date, so do get prepared. From what I have heard over the years, questions can be technical or out of the box depending on what the interviewer thinks the candidate is deficient in. A candidate who has a history of good grades is likely to be asked more random questions, while a candidate who has yet to show his or her academic prowess is likely to be asked more questions on academia. Still, there is no hard and fast rule so its best to be prepared for everything. The Cambridge TSA is conducted in this period also. |

|
| 15 January: |
Applications to the rest of the UK universities close on this date. As with the other application deadline, it is wise to give your teachers more time to fill out the forms as well, teachers do have other things to do. Since this is the school holidays it is understandable that some of the teachers might be overseas, leaving you worried about the state of your application. So do make an effort to help your teachers help you. |

| January-March |
Results come in about now. Note that this is before the A level results are released. Results for Cambridge come as early as the 1st week of January, so do keep an eye on your mailbox, should it be within view. Once the offers are out, go to UCAS and indicate whether you are going to make a firm or insurance decision, or a rejection. A firm decision for an unconditional offer would mean that you are guaranteed a place there. An insurance offer refers to one where it is a back-up to a conditional offer where you have failed to meet the conditions. Note that is is still possible for a Uni to take in applicants who have failed to meet the criteria. What the chances of that happening are varies from course to course however. |
